Following a month-long survey by leading wine PR agencies and generic bodies on the future of wine tastings, results show a clear preference for attending such events. This is excellent news for an industry whose lifeblood relies on the sampling and coming together to exchange ideas on wine.
This good news is however tempered by the fact that, naturally, respondents will only consider turning up where hygiene and social distancing have demonstrably been taken care of. The success or failure of tastings will ride on these new factors.
Around 1500 wine professionals were targeted, with 660 responding to the survey. This high response rate demonstrates the importance of this topic in the new covid-cautious era we all find ourselves in.
“We are very grateful to the trade for taking the time to share their opinions,” explains Alison Dillon of Dillon Morrall Wine PR who along with Angeline Bayly of Bespoke Drinks Media initiated this collaboration and industry-wide survey. “This will help inform how we conduct tastings going forward and how we create attractive, safe environments where both exhibitors and visitors will feel confident to attend.”
